  • Golden Globe nominations for Letters from Iwo Jima

    Letters from Iwo Jima has just gotten a Golden Globe nomination for best foreign film (because it is in Japanese) and is going up against Mel Gibson's Apocalypto. Also, Clint Eastwood has directing nominations for Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of our Fathers.

    In an MSN article entitled Asian Horror 101 , MSN listed the top 10 scariest Asian movies. Guess what? Of the 10, 8 titles are from Japan.     Nope, you didn't miss anything. It's just that despite all the gore, some people just found something *unique* in the BR movies. Unlike us. But I have to agree, it was well made. I even enjoyed the sequel. I'll try to compare this with the book if I can get one *hint, hint*

    Have I missed something in BR? Many people like it but I think I am not in the same like-level as them. They sounded so excited. But when I watched it, it was too violent. I guess the plot has made it popular though. Japanese stories are so unique that Hollywood is making their own versions.
