Hello to everyone!

My officemate highly recommended this site to post my question on the popular manga's which suit to the craving of Filipino audience. Our office will buy a number of manga's availble for our mini-library. Any suggestions/recommendations will highly be appreciated. Domo arigato gozaimasu.

That seems like a cool library to me ^_^ With regards to manga popular here in the Philippines, I'm guessing that the titles will be the same as anime titles. I mean, di naman ganun kasi kalaki ang manga market dito for the reason that Filipinos do not read Japanese. Also, manga translated into English are not that many.

Some titles that I think are popular with the general Pinoy market would be Yuyu Hakusho and Ranma 1/2. I saw these translated into English.

If you want manga in original Japanese, your safest bets would be the likes of Naruto...kasi ito ang isa sa pinakasikat na anime ngayon dito sa Pilipinas ^_^

I would also like to recommend Rurouni Kenshin, Slam Dunk, One Piece, Oh my goddess, Weiss Kreuz, Gensomaden Saiyuuki...If there are a number of females in your office, you should also get some shoujo manga like Fruits Basket, Hana yori dango, Honey and clover.

Do you need English or Japanese? Maybe the objective of you having a collection of manga is to improve your Nihongo?

Yeah, I bet the popular ones are those animes that became popular in the Philippines. Halimbawa, yung Slam Dunk na anime bitin kasi kaya yung ending makikita lang sa manga (nung sumali sila sa national championships). At iba pang kulang sa anime na sa manga lang makikita. Exciting yun!

i would also like to suggest books on manga drawing. baka kasi marami rin ang interested na matuto pano mag-drawing ng anime, hindi lang reading. kasi baka yung iba, hindi nakakabasa ng nihongo di ba?

thank you for the prompt reply and suggestions to this thread, anyway, both english and japanese is ok for us... i've already downloaded a significant lists of manga available on-line, however when i presented it to my japanese boss, he wants me to research/find out the most popular manga's Filipino likes and a study on manga (if any?) available, is there any site or publication you've encounter that dealt with this topic? thank you.
