    X Japan

The legendary X Japan...the most influential visual kei band in the land of the Rising Sun. The group's songs range from the sentimental to the insane and fans loved it. Their songs (mostly by Yoshiki) represent a whole repertoire of emotions that one can even compare it to a musical roller coaster.

It was not only their immense musical talent that made fans go ga-ga. Everyone LOVED their outrageous hair and crazy clothing...which may make Kiss pale in comparison. Big Smile

Their huge seven years of success came to an end in 1997 when they decided to split. Despite deaths and solo careers, the legend of X Japan will live on. Yes

    X Japan is:
    Yoshiki
    Heath
    Toshi
    Pata

    J-Music News: X-Japan Reformation

    X-Japan Reformation

    It is OFFICIAL.

X-Japan's former vocalist Toshi and drummer Yoshiki have stated that plans for the reformation of X-Japan is underway and will begin in December of 2007. The gossip as to whether the band will reform has been ongoing for awhile, but the gossip was put to rest following a meeting between Yoshiki and Toshi in LA a few months back, in which Toshi and Yoshiki will also start a new project of their own as well.

The song they performed together when they met is called "Without You" in remembrance of hide, and will be released at the opening of their new project, which is slated to begin sometime in the near future.

X Japan to Reunite with Single, Concert by Year's End

X Japan to Reunite with Single, Concert by Year's End

The surviving members of X Japan announced that the J-rock group will reunite after ten years to record a single and to tentatively perform a concert tour this year. Pianist Yoshiki Hayashi and vocalist Toshimitsu "Toshi" Deyama are planning a new vocal version of a tribute to their late guitarist Hideto "Hide" Matsumoto, who died a year after X Japan disbanded in 1997.

Yoshiki and Toshi had a personal reunion in November of 2006, and kept in touch by phone after that. At Yoshiki's invitation, Toshi came to Los Angeles, California this past March to sing a version of "Without You," a formerly instrumental song that Yoshiki wrote in 1998 for Hide's passing. Yoshiki says he had created lyrics years ago for the song, but the "puzzle came together" only when Toshi sang it.

Yoshiki and Toshi are planning to start a reunion concert tour in Los Angeles and offer the new "Without You" version with Toshi's vocals. Guitarist Tomoaki "Pata" Ishizuka and bassist Hiroshi "Heath" Morie have also informally discussed the reunion. They are considering having over ten guest artists at each concert to take the place of Hide.

Yoshiki notes that "Since we lost Hide, we've heard many extreme opinions from fans—from 'if you reunite, I will kill [you]' to 'if you don't reunite, I will die.' It wasn't easy deciding what to do, so even we didn't put anything into motion before. [X Japan's] reunion is something we had to decide for ourselves."

X Japan's notable anime contributions were the songs in the X2 music video collaboration with X manga's CLAMP and the later X movie. Madhouse Studios animated both productions.

    The return of X-Japan?

    The return of X-Japan?

Since YOSHIKI’s appearance at Otakon last year, there have been a lot of comments from Yoshiki regarding a band with Gackt (which was confirmed at J-Rock Revolution with the emergence of Skin feat. YOSHIKI, Gackt, Sugizo and Miyavi to perform at Anime Expo) and the other regarding YOSHIKI recording a song with TOSHI (”Without You” - a tribute to hide) and the remaining members of X-Japan reuniting.  Some have wondered if a reunion was possible with the death of hide (guitarist of X-Japan) back in 1998.  X-JAPAN called it quits back in 1996. According to Suponichi, YOSHIKI is in talks with X-JAPAN guitarist PATA and X-JAPAN bassist HEATH in reuniting and having ten different guitarists perform Hide’s part for various songs.

Also, with the rumors of YOSHIKI and TOSHI not getting along, that rumor appears to be debunked.   The article said that after the recording of the song “Without You”, both discussed reuniting.

Everything is tentative at this point but chances are we may see a post from Yoshiki on his MySpace blog.

    X Japan Tour

Nearly ten years since X JAPAN's New Year's "farewell" concert and nine years after the death of the band's influential lead guitarist Hideto "Hide" Matsumoto, X JAPAN has officially reformed and is planning a new tour and single, tentatively due before the end of 2007.

According to an article in the Japanese newspaper Sponichi, X JAPAN founder Yoshiki summoned former vocalist Toshi to Los Angeles in November 2006 to work on a song that was written as a tribute to late guitarist Hide, entitled "Without You" (originally released instrumentally on Yoshiki's first album). After an emotional recording session, the two felt that "the puzzle pieces just fit," and decided to officially reunite the band.

Yoshiki is said to be in talks with guitarist Pata and bassist Heath regarding the reunion, with hopes to feature the band lineup circa the group's final performance. While nothing has been set in stone, the tentative touring lineup is expected to include Yoshiki, Toshi, Pata, Heath, and roughly 10 guest guitarists who will perform Hide's parts during various songs in the set.

Current information indicates that X JAPAN's tour will begin near Yoshiki's home of Los Angeles, with the Toshi-sung single release of "Without You" due sometime this year.

Regarding the reunion, Yoshiki stated, "After Hide's death most fans were split between two extreme opinions, either 'you reunite and I'll kill you' or 'if you don't reunite I'll die.' I had trouble making the decision and for a while I wasn't able to move forward. This reunion is actually a first for me as well."

Yoshiki in Japan for 'Catacomb' premiere

Former X-Japan member Yoshiki (41) was in Japan on the 20th for the premiere of the Hollywood film "Catacomb".

Yoshiki, who is based in Los Angeles, made the theme for the said movie. Upon coming home, he thanked the people for welcoming him home so wonderfully and said 'Tadaima' (I'm home).

Yoshiki is also working on the movie soundtrack of the rock movie musical 'Repo! The Genetic Opera' by famed director Darren Lynn Bousman (of the 'SAW' series). Stars like Sarah Brightman and Paris Hilton were cast in the movie. - Translated for and by www.Japinoy.com. Please credit/link back when reposting elsewhere. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. Yoshiki producing Paris Hilton for "Repo!"

Former X Japan member Yoshiki is now in charge of producing the infamous Paris Hilton for her role in the rock musical film, "Repo! The Genetic Opera" (directed by Darren Lynn Bousman).

Producing for Paris is just one of Yoshiki's roles as the film's music director. This is his first time in that position. He was appointed by producer Mark Burg after he provided the theme song for "Catacombs" earlier this year.

Out of a reported 55 tunes in the movie's soundtrack, Paris performs about 7 of them. He is said to have approved of her singing, saying that she put in serious effort for the recordings.

"Repo!" is scheduled to open next spring in the U.S.

    The Return of X Japan

X JapanLegendary rock band X Japan took a major step towards their long-awaited comeback yesterday, recording the promo video for their new single. Ten years after they split, the four surviving members of the band were on the Tokyo waterfront to record a live performance on the rooftop of the Aqua City Odaiba mall.

The ¥42 million production used helicopters and fire trucks to create artificial rain. Some 10,000 fans gathered to watch the performance on a large screen monitor set up in a nearby car park as leader Yoshiki on drums, Toshi on vocals, Pata on guitar and bassist Heath performed "I.V.", the all-English theme tune for the Hollywood horror movie "Saw IV" which opens in the U.S. this weekend.

Yoshiki was characteristically topless as he showed that he hasn't lost his frantic drumming style. There had been plans to meet with fans in a nearby hall after the recording, but the crowd was just too big.

Speaking to fans via the monitor, Yoshiki remembered former lead guitarist Hide, who committed suicide in 1998, "What I really wanted was for us to make our world debut with Hide. But seeing as you've all taken the trouble to come here tonight, we're going to play a concert in Tokyo next spring!" Japan-Zone.com
