Blood types and personalities

The concept of relating your personality to your blood type (血液型 = ketsu eki gata) is very popular in Japan. In fact, this is quite similar as asking for your Zodiac sign. Blood type horoscopes are as popular in Japan as astrological horoscopes in other countries (like the Philippines). This concept/belief has even crossed over to nearby countries like Korea and Taiwan.

Below are common personality traits as determined by blood types:

TYPE A

Best traits: Conservative, reserved, patient, punctual, perfectionist and good with plants.
Worst traits: Introverted, obsessive, stubborn, self conscious, and uptight.
Famous type A people: George H. W. Bush, Ayumi Hamasaki, OJ Simpson, Britney Spears, Alan Alda, Adolf Hitler, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon

TYPE B

Best traits: Creative and passionate. Animal loving. Optimistic and flexible.
Worst traits: Forgetful, irresponsible, individualist.
Famous type B people: Akira Kurosawa, Jack Nicholson, Luciano Pavarotti, Tom Selleck, Mia Farrow, Paul McCartney, Leonardo diCaprio

TYPE AB

Best traits: Cool, controlled, rational. Sociable and popular. Empathic.
Worst traits: Aloof, critical, indecisive and unforgiving.

TYPE O

Best traits: Ambitious, athletic, robust and self-confident. Natural leaders

btw, i read the article too and according to that, 60% of japanese prime ministers have been type o. besides that, having the same blood type as john lennon is more than enough for me.

I was taught by my Jap teacher that there are two general types of people: the 'hen' and the normal people. Type B and AB are the 'hen' and A and O are normal.

Type A are 'majime na hito' (serious persons)
Type B are wierd because they are 'Bukiyou na hito' (Clumsy)
Type AB are much wierder version of Type B and
Type O are general people because they are 'Oozappa' and are leader type peoples.

I am not sure about the accuracy of it since I myself don't know anything about it so I don't know if my sensei is telling a joke or is serious...

I haven't seen that movie but I've heard of it. Many Koreans have adapted this blood type belief too. Well, not only Koreans, but also many Taiwanese and Hong Kongers (sp?). Just like the peace sign.

i forgot mine so i wanted to choose but it seems i can't fit in just one type.

anyway, i think this is similar with the concept invented by that psychologist in GE. people used to believe that we have just one brain. then further research suggested two (left and right hemispheres). now this psychologist says four. maybe the way he divided the brain into four is similar with this blood type personality.

the thing is, as a leader it's important to identify a team member into one of the four quadrants in the brain. this way, you'll achieve a more harmonious working environment.
