Congratulations to aiko!

She's been chosen to do the insert song for "Hana Yori Dango Final" (premiers on 6/28).

It's described as a "sweet, painful ballad" if I am reading this correctly, and as of now the working title "Tsukushi's Theme Song" (for those of you who don't know, Tsukushi is the main character of "Hana Yori Dango"), although that definitely won't be the final title. No release date yet, more information to come soon.

The other song is "One Love" by Arashi.

Information

aiko, full name Yanai Aiko, began her music career early, forming her own band while still in school. However, when she graduated, the group disbanded and aiko went her own way. She attended music school in Osaka, and while there showed a talent for music winning first prize in a teen music festival.

Later aiko was spotted by a producer, and in 1998 she debuted with the single Ashita. The slightly child-like quality to her vocals lends itself well to the upbeat and cheery tracks she commonly puts out, though no doubt you'll find the odd ballad lurking in her collection. She draws inspiration from her favorite artists; Carol King, The Jackson 5, Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder.

So far she has released 6 albums on the Pony Canyon label. The latest, Yume no Naka no Massugu na Michi, was released on March 2, 2005.

Japanese singer song-writer, aiko, has announced a new single which will be used as an insert song for one of this year's most anticipated movies! aiko's 24th maxi single, KissHug, has been revealed to be the insert song in Hana Yori Dango Final, the movie followed on from the hit series, Hana Yori Dango 1 and 2. KissHug will include a total of three tracks and instrumentals and first press editions come in special packaging and an 8 page booklet. Hana Yori Dango Final premieres on June 28th. Aiko is a bit comparable to Ai Otsuka because of their fast, energetic rock songs. I've even had their ubiquitous concert DVD! Hehehe.

Some favorite songs:

1 - Yume no Dance - The best semi-jazz song I've ever heard so far.

2 - Ai no Yamai - Comparable to Shiina Ringo's Koufukuron.

aiko and otsuka ai have a similar vocal quality.  Mas ma-vibrato nga lang si otsuka and mas deep ng konti.  I love them both though.  I had an aiko dloading frenzy a few weeks back.  I have to say, ang hirap maghanap ng download links nya ha. Now I have all of her albums and singles,lol!

 hindi ko talaga xa magustuhan. i downloaded a lot of her songs but they really didnt amuse me. hehe. yung voice rin niya eh kakaiba ^_^  ang kanta niya na nagustuhan ko lang eh yung Yokogao ^_^ yung OST ng Hotaru no Hikari ^_^
