Default What's the weirdest thing you've seen in Japan?

Let's adapt this "View from the Street" feature from Japan Times Online ^_^ If you have been to Japan, please share some of the weirdest things you have seen/experienced in Japan (For ideas, click the Japan Times link above)

      ================================================== ==

      I'll go first.
      • I think a Japanese squat toilet inside a Shinkansen is weird because the toilet is mounted on a platform that is about two feet high, and if you want to use the loo, you will have to step on the platform while the train is moving. Good luck na lang! :p
      • Japanese pizza with corn - I've never seen one before. It wasn't so bad tasting, but I just thought it was weird seeing corn on the pizza.
      • Overly aggressive deer - They seem to have a mind of their own. If you don't give them what they wanted, they will bite you. They're adorable, but they are brats!!
      Yan na lang muna.

I agree with the Japanese pizza. Kung ano-ano na naiisip nila. Di ko na maalala flavor nung nakain ko pero ibang klase talaga.

Meron pa yung Christmas day na parang ginawa nilang Valentine's day. Lahat ng mag-irog magkasama ng pasko. Sa atin kasi family kasama mo pero dun lalabas sila by pairs.

Speaking of Christmas, meron din silang Christmas cake! Cake na may nakalagay na Merry X'mas. Nya!

Next weird for me na funny and i actually find it a lil cute is to see the mascot of Condomania on the street na namimigay pa ng flyers sa people.
Weird din sa akin how japanese will get in line for anything for a chance of availing something for free. In Shibuya nakakita kami ng napaka haaaaaaaaaaabang linya that already took 3 blocks sa haba....and guess what it was for? Apparently, a new energy drink is giving away free samples. Yun lang. And speaking of free samples, I love the japanese market for that. They are very generous with giving out samples. Napuno na ng "free samples" of 3s of Lemon Water ang ref namin in a span of 3 days! We were drinking lemon water for one week na naging acidic na kami. Lol.
Speaking of the japanese getting in line for anything, we experienced this first hand when we went to Disneyland. My brother and i wanted to try the Tower of Doom kasi sold out na ang tickets. Weird, merong oras ang pagbili ng ticket dun unlike here if we go to lets say Starcity we can buy tickets anytime. Sila hindi. Lahat may oras. The ride was around 5 minutes long lang pero we waited in line for 3 hours! And you would think na pag gumagabi na kokonti na ang pipila coz palamig na din, paulan na. Pero grabe! they would go through rain, storm or probably even snow just to have chance for a free ride. Saludo talaga ako.
I can't say so much about food coz my brother and i eat at Yoshinoya most of the time or what ever, mahina kasi ang tiyan niya. Mas marami akong makikwento regarding the people more, hehe and you know what, na to some japanese lalo na yung matatanda they find it amazing to meet a filipino who can speak english. hehe Kasi siguro they find it difficult to learn it so itsa big thing to know someone who can actually speak english other their native language. I was in church that time and this old nihonjin, around 60's na siya couldn't believe that apart from filipino that i also speak english.

well, i've heard that there was a woman who was raped in a train. the train has people in it (not just the rapist and the victim). they can't stop the rapist because he had a knife. truly weird!

whaaat!? rapist sa train?! grabe naman ang sumpong nung rapist. parang askal.

weird sa akin yung salarymen...naka-gel and terno suit with matching attache case and then naka rubber shoes and no socks. kahit na ano pang situation na isipin ko just to give him the benefit of the doubt, weird pa rin sa akin.*-) and then ang hemline ng mga pants nila siguro mga 6-8 inches ang fold. wala bang gunting?[:^)]

there were lots of weird things that i noticed about Japan when i first came here...i'll share some:
one of the weird thing that i noticed was when my friend and i went to Chiba to visit someone...and in this park near Makuhari Station there was a pregant squirrel statue that your kids could play w/...i just don't get why the squirrel was pregnant...
another one was right near my apartment...there was a vending machine for porn mags...it's weird and nasty at the same time...and then there was this "rent a puppy" business thingy...you can rent it for an hour or you can take it home for the night...
here in Japan people are obsessed w/ small faces(chiisai kao) like those of Ayumi hamasaki and stuff and they have this thingy that's suppose to make your face smaller...
      i just don't get it....haha!
Japan is weird...but i still love it here!

What I know is that there was a newly opened business (mga last year) sa Odaiba, Tokyo. Pupunta ka dun, pay the entrance fee to cuddle pussy cats. Just one shop where you can feed, play with cats. Alam ko dito sa Pilipinas nasasagasaan lang sila kaya medyo weird ito para sa mga Pinoy. (At yung pagsagasa ay weird naman para sa mga Hapon.Hehe.)
