Fujiwara Norika and Jinnai Tomonori have wedding reception

Several months since their marriage back in Feb. 17th, actress/model Fujiwara Norika and comedian Jinnai Tomonori celebrated their wedding reception.

The two are known for their busy work schedules and were able to celebrate in style.

In fact, the wedding reception cost Y500 Million and was televised. Featuring live performances from Go Hiromi, video messages from fellow SHREK 3 friend Cameron Diaz (Fujiwara does the Japanese voice acting for Princess Fiona) and a surprise performance by Jinnai who learned to play the piano and sung her favorite Kobukuro song “Eien no Tomo ni”.

Kyodo News reports, “Their marriage is likely to have an economic impact worth up to 12 billion yen on the prefecture, according to an estimate by the Kobe branch of the Bank of Japan. The bank said the shrine would draw tourists who would spend money in the region and many people may be encouraged to hold wedding receptions in emulation of the couple. The reception was televised live by Nippon Television Network affiliate station.”

Fujiwara, Jinnai Hold ¥500 Million Reception

The lavish ¥500 million wedding reception for actress Fujiwara Norika (35) and Yoshimoto comedian Jinnai Tomonori (33) was broadcast live on national TV last night.

According to the NTV network, it was among the most expensive receptions ever televised. The event was held in the Heian no Ma reception room at the Hotel Okura Kobe and was attended by about 600 guests. As always there was no irony intended as Norika's father walked her in a white dress with an 8m-long veil down the "virgin road". Seeing the dress for the first time, Jinnai said, "She's more beautiful than I ever imagined. 100 times! She looks like something out of this world!"

There were videotaped messages from stars including Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz (34), Miyazaki Prefecture governor and former comedian Higashikokubaru Hideo (49) and top Yoshimoto comedy duo Downtown. Singer Go Hiromi (51) had 14 backing dancers for his performance of "Oyome Samba", a popular choice for wedding receptions.

Finally, Jinnai surprised his bride with a version of her favorite Kobukuro song, "Eien ni Tomo ni", accompanying himself on the piano. Not a musician, he spent three months secretly learning to play the song. The couple held their wedding ceremony on February 17 at the Ikuta Jinja shrine, also in their hometown of Kobe.

Huge Audience for the Big Wedding

NTV's televised coverage of the recent wedding reception for actress Fujiwara Norika(35) and Yoshimoto comedian Jinnai Tomonori (33) drew huge audience ratings. In the Kanto region it pulled in 24.7%, which would be a success for a TV drama, but in the Kansai area, where both stars are from, it got a whopping 40%, with a peak of 49.2%. That surpassed any Kimura Takuya drama or even the annual Kohaku special, at least in recent years. It is the second most popular TV broadcast of a reception after that of singer Go Hiromi and actress Nitani Yurie in 1987. Go was one of the performing guests at Wednesday event and advised the new couple not to end up like him. He and Nitani divorced in 2001.

TV Asahi has announced one of its fall drama series, titled "Oishii Gohan: Kamakura Kasugai Kometen." It will start in October, airing at 9:00pm on Thursdays.

The show is set in a rice shop in the city of Kamakura, Kanagawa. Tetsuya Watari stars as an old-fashioned man whose eldest son (Satoshi Tokushige) is forced to work in the shop. The son's wife is played by Norika Fujiwara, in her first renzoku drama role since she got married.

Ryota Kosawa ("Always: Sanchome no Yuhi") is in charge of the script. Shooting is already scheduled to begin on August 1.

Actress Fujiwara Norika recently attended a book signing session for her 'Norika Body' book. In her book, Norika reveals her techniques on slimming down. The actress confesses that she used to be compared to the comic book character Anpanman when she was young.

'Norika Body' is published by Kodansha. 

PS: Norika didn't hide the fact that she so wanted to be a Bond girl, and even spent a year in the United States to study English. Unfortunately, critics say that she cannot be a Bond girl because of her 'moon face' -- too round, too meaty. Maybe, after 'Norika Body', she'll have that Bond girl role she's always wanted.  

Celebrity couple Norika Fujiwara and Tomonori Jinnai are planning to start 2008 with a honeymoon trip to Mauritius. They got married in February but due to their busy schedules, their only vacation time is at the start of the new year.

Actress Norika Fujiwara, 36, said this week that her charity organization had opened a school for children in Cambodia on March 25. According to Fujiwara, the school was built in an area four hours by car from the capital Phnom Penh. The school, which used to be made of wood, has been renovated into a concrete building with toilets and a water well. It can accommodate 600 students.

Fujiwara said, “A lot of children attended the opening ceremony, singing a Japanese song for us. I was very happy and they also looked happy. I hope many more people come to realize how their charity efforts can make it possible for poor children to go to school.”

In 2004, Fujiwara visited Cambodia and decided to launch her charity fund organization. She has held photo events to raise funds in order to provide education to Cambodian children. She was awarded a decoration by the Cambodian government for her charity activities. JapanToday

Actress Norika Fujiwara has been given the starring role in her first appearance in a production of a Broadway musical. The work is Bob Martin and Don McKellar's "The Drowsy Chaperone," which is currently in the middle of a tour across North America.

The Japanese production will be put on by noted director Amon Miyamoto. Fujiwara and Miyamoto both visited the U.S. last December to watch the musical in person. After that, Fujiwara began training herself for the part of the protagonist Janet, taking singing lessons twice a week and dance lessons once a week.

Actress Norika Fujiwra, 36, this week met Empress Michiko at the annual National Red Cross conference held in Tokyo. Fujiwara, who does PR for the Japan Red Cross and visited Bangladesh in February, gave a presentation on the current situation of that country after it was hit by a cyclone, during the conference.

She said, “I chose show business as a career because I thought I could entertain people and give them some diversion from their everyday life. I also hope that my high profile can help me make the public more aware of the plight of people in countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar. I intend to visit there as often as I can.”
