Kuitan episode 5
Yappari, this has to be my favorite episode of the series ^_^ The story opens a couple of days before Valentine's Day. A girl (Rei-chan), who happens to be Kindaichi's classmate -- and crush, drops by Holmes Agency with a request: for Holmes to find out if her crush, Fujiwara-kun, has a girlfriend already.
Meanwhile, another big case develops and Kuitan was called to help. A pastry chef, Takeuchi Natsuko, was murdered in a shop where she was dining in. Their biggest clue was a cake left at the scene, that Kuitan almost ate, had it not been for the quick Anti-Tasting Squad brought by Igarashi. This cake was not made nor sold in the shop where Takeuchi was murdered.

The police learned that 2 days before, a previous victim (Asai Kaoru) died in a similar way, and a cake from the 2nd shop (where Takeuchi was killed) was left there. Now they know that the cake will lead them to the next victim.
At the police headquarters, Kuitan is about to test the 'evidence' (to find out where it was made) when he noticed strange markings on the cake's side.

Kuitan and the police's further investigation lead them to a culinary school, where the two victims studied. Kuitan, in his quest to find the exact same cake, took the opportunity to sample the students' masterpieces.

Now you understand why this is my favorite episode? ^_^
Now, with the help of Kyoko and Rei-chan (who were making giri-choco for Valentine's), Kuitan learned that the strange markings he found on the cake was made by a rice cooker. The next victim is a housewife and not a pastry chef. Kyoko checks the list of the culinary school students and found one who is a housewife, Sakai Yasuko. Incidentally, this woman had previously given a cake to her classmate Fukuda Yukio.
Momo-chan pursued Fukuda alone until they reached an empty theater; while she had the upperhand for a while, Fukuda managed to take Momo-chan's pistol. Igarashi, Ryousuke and Kindachi manage to catch up, but cannot help Momo-chan. Finally, Kuitan arrives and tries to talk to Fukuda about calming down and throwing down the pistol and eating chocolates together, but Fukuda was not listening and fired at Kuitan's chocolate.
An angered Kuitan was ready to take on Fukuda's bullet and does it ala-Matrix, while trying to catch the bullet with his chopsticks. Alas, he missed the bullet; it bounces off his chopsticks, and went straight to -- Igarashi's chest.

Relax, Igarashi was ok -- hurt, but ok. His daughter, Rei-chan (yep, the girl at the start of the story), rushes to his bedside, where they had a heart-to-heart father-daughter talk. They have been separated for a while and Rei-chan's mom had recently remarried; Igarashi had been avoiding Rei-chan, because he wanted to be sensitive to the new family -- to which Rei-chan responded that whatever happens, he will still be her dad (and her Valentine). Awww...

Meanwhile, back at Holmes, the three 'boys' were delighted when they got their own chocolates from Kyoko: "Love" for Ryousuke (which she insists was a joke), Miyuki for Kindaichi, and a pair of gold chopstick-shaped chocolates for Kuitan. All was well
