    Your favorite J-Music Artists

Once again, I'm starting a new thread for all of you to help me sa aking talumpati sa school. ^^,

Ang topic ko kasi ay East Asian Pop Music. Tatalakayin ko dapat dito kung sino yung pinakagustong artists ng mga tao, ang cause and effects ng pagkakaadik dito at basta things related to this topic. (Required kasi akong magpakita ng statistics about sa mga tanong na to)

So ayun, next week na po ako magtatalumpati and matutulungan niyo po ako by answering some of these questions:

Who are your favorite Japanese Music Artists? (Kung may korean at chinese, pakisabi nalang din)

In your opinion, why do people listen to Japanese/Korean/Chinese eventhough they do not understand the songs?

In your opinion, what are the good & bad effects of being a fan of Japanese Music?

And lastly, do you buy things/stuff like CDs, DVDs, etc. of these artists?  If yes, how much does it cost you everytime you buy those stuff?

Marami bang mga tanong? hehe. kung may time po kayo, pakisagutan nalang po ^^  i really need it.  Onegaishimasu ^^,

Re: Your fave J-Music Artists and Why you listen to J-Music

Sige, ako unang sasagot. Hehe >

    Lady-Rinoa:
Who are your favorite Japanese Music Artists?

    -Utada Hikaru, Ken Hirai, L'arc

    Lady-Rinoa:
In your opinion, why do people listen to Japanese/Korean/Chinese eventhough they do not understand the songs?

-I think music is an international language. I remember when times I listen to Pavarotti his "power" in singing even makes me cry sometimes even he sang Italian or non-English songs. Same with other people who likes Japanese music, they like it because of the "ingredients" that makes up the song--beat, style, voice, instruments not just the lyrics.

    Lady-Rinoa:
In your opinion, what are the good & bad effects of being a fan of Japanese Music?

-I think it depends who's saying the "good" and "bad." If I'm the producer, I would say that it's good because my artist is having a stronger fan base. It's bad because some of those fans are pirating the music I'm producing. If I'm a parent of a fan, I would say that my child is having more friends and becoming well-rounded individual because my son is meeting with people who have the same interest. I would say that it's bad because those friends might be bad influence to my son because they smoke or drink a lot. So I think it's a double-edged sword.

    Lady-Rinoa:

And lastly, do you buy things/stuff like CDs, DVDs, etc. of these artists?  If yes, how much does it cost you everytime you buy those stuff?

-I don't. When I'm in Japan it's just not my priority. I spend my money in tourist spots.

    Hope this helps.

Re: Your fave J-Music Artists and Why you listen to J-Music

My all-time favorite JMusic artists are Arashi, L'Arc~en~Ciel, melody., Morning Musume and Utada Hikaru. In my case, I started listening to JMusic in High school, first with anime soundtracks, because they were the easiest to get hold of. Then just as our house was connected to the internet, I saw Battle Royale. I guess that started it all. I began to watch JDoramas, JMovies, and eventually I started listening to Japanese music. I began to listening to groups like L'arc and Dragon Ash, then slowly, my playlist's repertoire of Japanese songs began to grow. Then, Arashi and Momusu came along, and perhaps sealed the deal so to speak.

Because, music does not have to make sense. If it stirs one's mind and the soul, then it will be worth listening to. And sometimes, it is the beat, the sound and the little bits of lyrics that you try to make sense out of. Choice words also help. Just hearing Gambare songs when you're about to do something can really fire you up! Crystal Kay's Kitto Eien ni a very emotional song. I barely understand the song, but just hearing "Mou ichido, please" or "Anata wa kitto eien ni" says a lot. And mystery also helps, too. I love the song, Te Agero. When I found about the lyrics, they were so racy! I loved it even more! Haha! And maybe, because J Music (J-Pop in particular) just sounds fun. That's why I love Momusu!

Good effects? Marami. It sparks one's interest on subjects like the culture and language of a certain country. Listening to these kinds of music also broadens our knowledge of various genres of music. It makes us more critical of our local music (Why support music that you don't like? I like some local bands, but definitely not all. Suddenly, you're more meritorious in choosing the music you are listening) and many others. Bad? Well, it insulates J Music listeners to local music on the airwaves (Maybe that's not such a bad thing). And maybe, it also prevents you from discovering music from your own backyard. The country has a rich musical history, and we are very talented people. How often do mainstream media play Kundimans or traditional music? How can you discover the richness of culture the Philippines has, if you only focus on certain genres, and worse, if you cannot gain access to our music? But then again, one can always stop and take in these if one has the time and effort to do so. Personally, I enrolled in a Philippine music lit class (and for PE, folk dance!) ,and have decided to be a more active patron of the CCP. So, really I don't see a clear negative effect of listening to Asian Music. It just depends on the mind and the ears of the one listening.

Re: Your fave J-Music Artists and Why you listen to J-Music

Let's try to clarify para sa lahat...Kung hindi ako nagkakamali,

NHK (White only) - NHK World Premium, this is the variety channel. SC and MJ probably should be in here.

NHK (Red Letters)- NHK World Service, News and Information channel. J-Melo ang nandito.

At kung sobrang swerte ka... BS1 at BS2!!! Sobrang miss ko na 'tong channels na 'to. I used to watch the Olympics and Asian Games here at napakarami pang iba. Too bad wala na 'to sa cable namin (Atsaka WOWOW). Sad 'Di ako ganon ka-sure, kasi wala ako sa harap ng TV ngayon eh. Hehe...

    Re: Your fave J-Music Artists

ako fave ko lahat nang may natural vibrato/tremolo at magaling mag-piano... pinakikinggan kong mabuti ung boses nila, next ung arrangement ng songs ... I don't care much sa hitsura, actually.. pero a plus pag good-looking syempre Devil

    artists with natural vibrato ♥:

Gackt, Klaha, Jui of Vidoll, Tatsuya Ishii, Kawabata Kaname of Chemistry, T.M. Revolution (pinakamaraming vibrato LOL), Morrie of Creature Creature, Mao of SID, Sakurai of Buck Tick, Utada Hikaru, YUI (very minimal vibrato), and vox of 176BIZ, 12012

artists with no vibrato/with developed vibrato:

SPITZ, Remioromen, Ayaka,  Laruku/Hyde, Atari Kousuke, UVERworld, Ringo Shiina, Bonnie Pink, Asian Kung Fu Generation, Monkey Majik, MYV, Ikimonogakari, Do as Infinity, Natsukawa Rimi, Nakashima Mika, Rythem, Alice Nine, Gazette, Oda Kazumasa, Crystal Kay, Tamaki Nami, AAA, Sakamoto Maaya, Shimokawa Mikuni, etc...

    magagaling mag-piano:

Gackt, Aki Angela, Sukima Switch, Yoshiki of XJapan, Younha

    Why I listen to JMusic?

Japanese music, mapa-pop o rock, it's just different.. very unique and stylish... nakakasawa kasi ung music na nakalakihan na ng mga Pilipino, lalo na ung tunog Western na...

Sakin din, it started with anime soundtracks. In my case, I sing talaga dati, so I'm looking for good influences. Wala akong vibrato dati kaya I dwelled on artists na may vibrato. Frustrated akong matuto ng piano kaya I liked artists na magaling mag-piano...

For me, kung singer ka, you don't just sing tapos, tapos na. More on vocals kasi ako tapos sabi ko nga, ung arrangement na. Kaya I love JMusic.
