B'z First Asian Artists in Hollywood Rock Walk

Not only are they Japan's biggest-selling artists by far, but B'z are huge even by world standards. Sales of over 75 million albums and singles puts them in 7th place in the world, and no one can deny they have earned the right to become the first Asian artists to be inducted on the Hollywood Rock Walk.

The announcement today coincides with the 19th anniversary of their debut release and shortly before the release of their 44th single "Super Love Song" on October 3. The duo, vocalist Inaba Koji and guitarist Matsumoto Takahiro, plan to take part in the induction ceremony on November 19. The only Japanese on the Walk to date are businessmen: Kakehashi Ikutarou, founder of instrument maker Roland, and Korg founder Kato Tsutomu.

Established in 1985, the Hollywood Rock Walk is a collection of handprints, signatures, and memorabilia from Rock 'n Roll's greatest musical performers and innovators, who have contributed the most to forge the integrity and promote the growth of Rock 'n Roll as an art form.

Inductees are chosen through secret ballot by those surviving among the existing 175 honorees, who include Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Eric Clapton and Van Halen. B'z nomination had some help from inductee and friend Steve Vai, with whom they have performed. The Rock Walk is located on Sunset Boulevard, in the outer lobby of Hollywood's Guitar Center.

Stepping into their 20th anniversary next year, top-selling J-rock duo B'z kicks off the celebrations with their 16th original album, ACTION, to be released on 2007.12.5!! The album will include their single "Eien no Tsubasa" and the upcoming "SUPER LOVE SONG" for a total of 17 tracks.

Rock giants B'z yesterday became the first Asian artists to be inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk.

Inaba Koshi (43) and Matsumoto Takahiro (46) were at the Guitar Center in Los Angeles for the induction ceremony, though the event drew only about 100 fans.

Speaking in English, Matsumoto said how when they started out they had never dreamed of ending up in such a place, and the pair thanked their fans for their success.

Inaugurated in 1985, the Rock Walk includes all the major names of U.S. rock history. B'z earned their place with combined sales of well over 70 million albums and singles.

As Japan's best-selling rock artists, B'z have no shortage of hits to choose from for a pair of compilation albums to mark their 20th anniversary. And their new single "Burn" has added to the list, entering the Oricon charts at No.1 this week. That extends their double record of 41 consecutive No.1 releases over 19 consecutive years.

In this memorial year, they started a 17-city arena tour at the weekend, which will be followed by a 3-city stadium tour in September. And yesterday they announced a follow up to their 1998 release of a pair of hits albums - "Pleasure" and "Treasure" between them sold more than 9 million copies. "B'z The Best - Ultra Pleasure," which goes on sale June 18, includes no less than 12 million sellers and the 27 singles on the album have between them sold over 25 million copies.

The album will come with a bonus mini album containing "Itsuka no Merry Christmas" and reworked versions of "Bad Communication" and "Pleasure." The first issue of the album will also include a 10-track live DVD that includes footage of the legendary Chiba Marine Stadium show in 2000, when they band performed outdoors during a thunder storm.
