Re: 2007 Kouhaku's most awaited performers

And rightly so! She totally bombed!

Was Koda Kumi lip-synching? Nyak!

Here are some of my favorite performances:
    - Gackt - duh! ang galing galing talaga.
    - Sada Masashi - Napakaganda ng song, pati host napapakanta. Ang cute, hehe
    - Akikawa Masafumi - Todo na to! Parang mausoleum pa ung background niya.
    - Kobayashi Sachiko - Kimura Takuya's face said it all: grand!
    - Hikawa Kiyoshi - soran soran soran!
    - Tokunaga Hideaki - I'm just a woman, fall in love. Hehe.

Re: 2007 Kouhaku's most awaited performers

Hehe.

First time kong nakita si Leah Dizon at Boa mag-perform ng live pero (shitsurei sa fans nila) sintunado. Kinakabahan siguro. Hehe.

Kudos to Gackt for his number (although di ko siya favorite. Hehe.). Angela Aki di ko naabutan. Ahuhu. 'til next December!

Ito pa ang nabasa ko about Leah Dizon...sa isang rehearsal, umiyak siya kasi di nya maalala ung lyrics ng song nila na magkakasama. Ung isa sa huling songs na magkakasama nilang kakantahin. Which was a problem kasi nga nasa prime spot siya kung baga. Nasa likod lang siya ni Kitamura Saburou-san, who lead the song.

The battle of New Year's Eve

GacktWith NHK's "Kohaku Uta Gassen" battling for ratings with comedy and ring sports every New Year's Eve, it was appropriate that one of the most anticipated appearances on the show was described as "Sengoku Rock". Referring to the medieval "warring states" period was rock star Gackt, who last year appeared as warlord Uesugi Kenshin in NHK's annual historical  drama series "Fuurinkazan". He reprised the role for his Kohaku performance, the details of which had been kept under wraps until the show went live. With Gackt and his band all dressed in full battle armor, he was supported by a studio full of about 300 warriors.

    • Many viewers, myself included, were expecting some kind of acknowledgment of the rumored romance between emcee and SMAP leader Nakai Masahiro (35) and pop diva Koda Kumi (25), but it never came. Fellow emcee Shoufukutei Tsurube (57) teased Nakai gently after he had introduced Koda on stage but he didn't take the bait. Indeed, when questioned by reporters after the show, Nakai said there was no truth to the rumors at all. Meanwhile, one real "power couple", talento Fujiwara Norika (36) and comedian Jinnai Tomonori (34), were guests on the show in what they said was their first and last appearance together. Second half of Kohaku gets 2nd lowest ratings in history

NHK's annual Kohaku Uta Gassen had 32.8% ratings for the first half of the show, rebounding from last year's 30.6%, which had tied for the lowest ratings ever. On the other hand, the show's second half had ratings of 39.5%, replacing last year's 39.8% as the second lowest in history.

The numbers in the Kansai region showed strong improvement over last year. The two halves had reached historical lows with 28.5% and 37.6% ratings, but they rose to 33.2% and 39.5% this time around. Tokyograph

They should have more quality performers kasi eh.  I wonder why they have Leah Dizon there, my god she can't even sing!

^ Yes, I agree. Tulad nga ng sinabi ko dati, they should not equate 'quality' with 'popularity'. Take Leah Dizon, for example - she is popular, yes but not good. Goodness knows she is not good. Ayan tuloy, sumabog sa mukha nila. Kobayashi Sachiko may be old, but she is good. I was bowled over by her performance. The look on Kimura Takuya's face says it all: awesome. Now, I cannot say the same for the Akihabara extravaganza.

Baby, please, fall in love...I'm out of tune...blah-blah-blah

Wahahaha! Kahit mababa ang ratings ng Kouhaku, it is still the most watched show of New Year's eve...probably because people don't have much choice, or maybe because of tradition. I don't know, hehe. Personally, I watch Kouhaku because it's not everyday that I get to watch pop artists and enka singers and rockers in one event together. Nakakasawa naman kung puro enka or puro JE or puro rock di ba? May variety. Plus, I get to know a lot about the singers I don't normally listen to, like Tokunaga Hideaki and Hikawa Kiyoshi.

I am still at a loss why Shokotan seemed to be so popular...she's not very striking, not a good singer either...
