Correct me if I'm wrong, but only 2 JE groups are there: SMAP and TOKIO. Weird kasi supposed to be, the other JE groups are quite hot nowadays. Apparently, not hot enough for the Kouhaku.

I'm happy na andyan lagi ang w-inds, maski di ko sila masyadong gusto. These guys are doing something right in a showbiz world saturated with JE. In my humble opinion lang naman. Walang magagalit!

Gackt and Akikawa Masafumi are shoo-in (daw) because Gackt is never away from the public eye because of his Fuurin Kazan, and Akikawa for being a unique artist (tenor).

ang weird lang din talaga dahil 2 JE groups lang ang nasa list. V6 was also there last year diba?  sayang naman, kahit KAT-TUN o kahit Arashi man lang ay wala dun.

i loved w-inds' performance last year. :)   kahit hindi ko rin sila masyadong gusto :)

weird talaga!  kasi kung sales ang usapan ay ang pasok na pasok ang Laruku. They appeared on Kouhaku noong 1998 at 1999.  Ano po ba talagang basehan ng Kouhaku? kasi even Hikki is not in the list. >.<

as far as i know, lumabas din dyan sa Kouhaku si Gary V at Smoky Mountain.. tama ba? noong 1991 ata :)

Sa 2007 ilagay na nila sana si Leah Dizon. Hehe.

Ang tingin ko naman sa criteria ng Kouhaku, aside from those who are most profitable during the year, they also put in the Kouhaku 'staples' like Itsuki Hiroshi, Hikawa Kiyoshi, Yoshimi Tendo, Wada Akiko and all the other big enka singers. Tapos di nawawala ang Hello Project (maski walang project for the year, hehe) dahil siguro wala masyadong female pop kung mawawala sila.

SMAP, palaging kasama rin kasi malakas talaga ang hatak kahit kelan. Sila lang ata ang consistent na nakakapasok from Johnny's e.

i'm just going to correct myself...   year 2000 ang last performance ng Laruku sa Kouhaku ^_^  they performed 'Stay Away' ^_~

NHK is expected to soon announce the hosts of its year-end Kohaku Uta Gassen, though rumor has it that Masami Nagasawa will be in charge of the Red Team while the entire group SMAP handles the White Team. In the meantime, Oricon turned to public opinion to see who viewers are hoping for. Research discovered that the most popular choices are last year's hosts, Yukie Nakama and SMAP leader Masahiro Nakai.

In the women's category, Nagasawa ranked second behind Nakama. Other popular choices, in order, were: Masami Hisamoto, Erika Sawajiri, Norika Fujiwara, Junko Kubo, Akiko Wada, Yui Aragaki (tied with Wada for #7), Aoi Miyazaki, and Ryoko Shinohara.

On the men's side, Tamori ranked second, followed by Minomonta and Sanma Akashiya. Koichi Domoto, Yoshio Kojima, and Shingo Katori tied for 5th, while Takuya Kimura and Shinsuke Shimada tied for 8th. Yo Oizumi rounded out the list at #10.

 if it is an event for famous and well-selling j-pop artists then i wonder why laruku is not there?

NHK has decided to make this year's Kohaku a boy's affair. For the first time in 51 years, both the red and white teams on the New Yaer's Eve "song battle" will have a male leader. Heading the red team for the fourth time is SMAP member Nakai Masahiro (35), while rakugoka Shoufukutei Tsurube (55) makes his debut as white team leader. The pair have teamed up before, co-hosting a private network talk show. But Tsurube also has a more embarrassing incident to make up for: Fuji TV's 27-hour telethon in 2003, a live broadcast during which he appeared drunk and exposed himself.   Japan-Zone.com
