J-Celeb News: Shido Nakamura Joins John Woo's 'Red Cliff'

    Asian Popcorn

Shido Nakamura inked a talent contract with the Avex Entertainment agency on Wednesday, Avex has announced. His first role under the Avex banner will be in John Woo's new actioner "Red Cliff," playing a general under Chang Chen's Emperor Sun Quan.

Avex, a major Japanese music company, launched into the non-musical talent management biz in June and has already signed "The Last Samurai" star Koyuki.

As does Koyuki, Nakamura intends to internationally establish himself in Asia first before tackling the rest of the world. A member of a famed Kabuki family who has risen to stardom in the trad drama form, Nakamura has been appearing in pics with great frequency in recent years, including last year's WWII action hit "Yamato" and Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima."

The Woo pic, budgeted at $75 million, is skedded for release in Japan, China, Korea and elsewhere in 2008.

I really hope he makes it. I think this is one talented actor. Actually, masyadong maliit ang role niya sa Iwo Jima to make a mark. Pero galing niya sa Death Note ha! Stick out tongue

Btw, he is also the ex-husband of Takeuchi Yuko, the lead actress in the series 'Lunch no Joou' (Lunch Queen). I remember reading about their divorce in Junon (which Wigent-san brought from Tokyo). I think isa daw ito sa nakakagulat na balita sa J-showbiz last year. Sayang, bagay pa naman sila...

    Nakamura Shido

Bigla ko naalala si Shido (Mikkabouzu) sa Sexy Voice and Robo. Wala lang, nakakaawa kasi. Sad

    Re: Nakamura Shido

Sobrang playboy naman, utang na loob.

Actor Shido Nakamura, who recently formalized his divorce with Yuko Takeuchi, continues his reputation as a ladies' man. The latest woman rumored to be involved with Nakamura is actress Sawa Suzuki, who worked together with him in the 2004 taiga drama "Shinsengumi!"

FLASH magazine spotted the two together late at night at an upscale yakiniku restaurant. They spent close to 3 hours there, though in the end they each went back to their separate homes. Nakamura's agency acknowledged that they dined together, but said they had not heard anything about a relationship. Tokyograph
