     Moeru -san,

eto ba yung makati kendo club, sa pioneer, I think? I've seen the place nung nagpractice kami dun nung dumating yung isang japanese aikido master,  june last year.

Could you give me a rough estimate ng budget ko kung sakaling mag-enroll ako for 1 year?

    Domo arigato gozaimasu!

    hirodayuy:

whoah aikido hehe anu kaibahan nyan sa ibang martial arts?

    Hirodayuy,

One of the difference na maituturing  sa aikido is that it ius a genuine budo, it is not just a matter of defeating your opponent with throws, locks and strikes. If you get deeper in to it, its actually a way of life, with principles on how you get along with other people and with yourself, all encapsulated within the techniques.

Generally,  Aikido seeks to bring about harmony. Sa Technical Philosophy aspect magkakatalo, depending on the school of thought ng aikido kung saan sila magconcentrate. The students of the founder have their own interpretation of the founder's teaching. Para bang you get 10 teachers to teach the same technique, you get ten different interpretations.

The Iwama School of thought ( Saito family branch) would concentrate in preserving the technical teachings of the founder. The Nishio (by shoji Nishio) group would  concentrate in the applicability of the weapons, no difference ang movement with or without weapons. the Ki no kenkyukai school would concentrate on the ki or inner energy aspect while Yoshinkan would concentrate on the techniques developed by the founder before WWII.

In the actual techniques, aikido is very lethal if you analyze the principles behind the movements, which includes very dangerous neck breaks, throws and joint manipulations. Another thing is that di na pinatatagal ang laban, kung matapos naman sa isang technique, then do it. no need to bash the face needlessly. Thats why you dont see them fighting in the ring, dahil against sa philosophy, and second, they know the damage that they could do.

please check the website for some of the techniques if you like : www.stenudd.com

ALso check the website of Ichiro Shishiya sensei: http://www.choujintairiku.com/aiki/

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Aikido... anyone interested?

Practice fee nmn, two months worth of P1,500 ang binabayaran sa first month nung 2 months. (So kung Jan-Feb, sa Jan ung payment). Every saturday lng ang practice. Ung equipment nmn, I think ung shinai P1350? hnd ko po sure. mas mura un 2 yrs ago when I joined. After 3 months, kylngn na mag kendogi. I think I bought mine at around P3400. mas mahal na siguro ulit un. Then, I think within a year, kung makapasa sa bogu evaluation, kylngn na rin mag bogu. un ang mahal. P13,000 na siguro ung cheapest. hahaha!

Kya lng po I suggest na kung hnd nyo rin po sya itutuloy, wag na lng po kayo mag enroll. As you can see, bogu wearing doesn't come until after half a year (or more). Real Kendo starts pag naka bogu n. And I believe ung mga sensei at sempai dun, they frown upon people who quit after getting their bogu. Common kc un. Mahirap kc pag naka bogu n. And ung iba siguro, pang porma lng, so hnd na itutuloy pag nahihirapan na. hehe.

    Greentea-san :

Its nice to hear na nagstart ka na sa pag-practice. I checked the site, and I think you're in very good hands, since kilala ang group nila in producing very good aikidokas. Your teacher's shihan is pretty well-famous too sa aikido community. I hope you enjoy your time practicing!
