(WAHAHAHHA conyo to the MAX)

Kasi nga like many first world Country (with the exception of the US) masyadong secular na ang mga tao. Well perculiar sa Japan yung "practical religiousity". Hum... Bale they still believe on "Omamori", religious festivals pero kasi inde for the sake of religion or spiritual growth kundi its part of culture.

So ayun. More so Christianity is still considered a "new wave religion" and very much a minority in Japan. Interesting yung "new wave religion" concept for the Japanese and I suggest that you read up on that yourself if you really want to pursue such a career. I would like to share what I know pero I believe na inde ako articulate at baka I may say some wrong facts kasi tagal ko nang ginawang research topic ito eh. hehehe

Pero I tell you the Japanese Christians are one of the most passionate group of believers I saw in my life. Ayun lang. hehehe

Roman Catholic po ako. Next sem, I'm planning to study in St. Anthony sa Tagaytay to pursue a degree in Religious Education (Values Formation major n_n).

Naisip ko lang din kasi, Philippines is already a Christian country, so most schools probably have a solid Religion studies. Ang naisip ko ay magtrabaho sa isang country na hindi pa masyadong influenced ng Christianism, maybe as a Values Educator or a Christian Living Teacher. n_n

I haven't much read about Japan's views regarding Christianity. The truth is medyo anxious ako sa Japan's outlook on western religions (remember the Tokugawa Era?)

It's nice hearing it from you guys. Kahit papano may idea na ako if ever I could find a chance to work in Japan. n_n

    Arigatou Gozaimasu! n_n

Uhmm about your comment on the Tokugawa period.... sobrang OLD history na yun. hehehhe Sobrang kakaiba na yung state of Christianity sa Japan after the WW2.

hmmm... may kutob ako na kapag nakita mo yung kakaibang "branches"/notions of Christianity sa Japan eh manlumo ka...

Ito share ako ng isang slight lang na wrong take on doctrine.

Bale yung Holy Trinity ay Ganito dba... Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Pero yung images parang skewed dun. Kasi yung image for the Holy Spirit is the Virign Mary.  Inde yung type na veneration lang ha. pero from my impression and rereading of documents parang they worship the Virgin Mary as the Holy Spirit in some areas. Well kasi para maapropriate yung concept they needed something exisitng from their Buddhist roots. The goddess of mercy was used as an analogy for the Holy Spirit then people somehow approriated Mary into the position. It stuck and so we have the Virgin Mary as the Holy Spirit. hehehe..

Pero that is still the tip of the iceberg... Sobrang rami pa... Hahahaha... well If you want to pursue this you are in luck kasi maraming literature by Western people and they are quite objective about how Japan assimilated its infant Christian faith. Honestly maganda syang research topic. heheheh pero inde na ako studyante at tamad akong magsulat HAHAHAHA...

Cool!

...pero second year pa lang ako pagpasok, so I guess it's still early for that. Still, you really got my attention on that one, maakusutipen-san! n_n

I can't help but wonder, since ung mga madalas sa mga nakikita ko sa drama about Japan eh merong mga gangsters and criminals...(note: I assume that drama reflects an area society)

Re: What You Don't Like About Japan

Yung hectic work schedule, normally sa salarymen yan. I am lucky to have flexible sched. Usually, yung inuman sa gabi pati na yung golf, tennis, karaoke and other social activities  kasama sa work yan pag nilalabas yun cliente. Kawawa naman kasi yung pinaka leisure nila yung pachin-ko, while si misis inuubos lang sarapi ni mister, pashopping shopping lang or nood ng jdoramas. hehe

Giant bugs, perverted Japanese men, traveling 2 hrs to work and 2 hrs. back, neverending etiquette, bland food, packed trains, high costs - those are the common complaints of foreigners living there. I have no problem with any of that.  My numero uno pet peeve in Japan are gaijins who come to Japan expecting that it would be as pretty as cherry blossoms or as picturesque as Lost in Translation movie or nothing but anime on tv, then would be disappointed that it is exactly the opposite (esp. in Tokyo and Osaka) then they would endlessly bash Japan.

I use to hang-out with teachers under the JET program, many of them Caucasians with superiority complex, and they would do nothing but complain. Not just complain, they put it on their blogs or youtube in an insulting fashion for the world to make fun of.  I tell them that there is always Darfur or Iraq as an alternative. Mas mabuti pang kasama mga Pinoy entertainers or assembly line workers doon. Mas magaling tayong mag-adjust, kaya nga tayo astig eh.

It is easy to make fun of this country because of its out of this world, childish culture. Kakaiba sila sa buong Asia. Pero wala namang perfect na bansa.  The truth is we are endlessly fascinated by its uniqueness that is why we tend to point out their "crazy kawaiiness".
