MISIA Kicks Off Asia Tour in Taipei

R&B diva MISIA kicked off her THE TOUR OF MISIA DISCOTHEQUE ASIA Asia tour tonight at 7:30pm in Taipei. Six back dancers started the show, followed by MISIA herself, who evoked waves of screaming and cheering from fans with Royal Chocolate Flush, along with other dance numbers such as FUTURE FUNK, TYO and the recently-released digital single Catch the Rainbow. There were no flashy stage props and visual effects other than the occassional fireworks, just music and dancing.

"I want everyone to sing together and to dance together, because singing and dancing are what connects us universally," said the 30-year old musician in Mandarin Chinese, an effort she practiced for the night's performance. The pace of the concert then slowed down for a few medium-numbers such as MISSING AUTUMN, followed by ballades Soba ni Ite..., Nemurenu Yoru wa Kimi no Sei, and It's just love, with the last chorus verse re-written with Chinese lyrics.

The pace of the show picked up its pace again with the sweet love song Yes Forever, followed by a series of fast-tempo beats such as Taiyou no Chizu, LUV PARADE, and concluded the performance with We are the music. Five minutes passed with the audience clapping, cheering, and doing the wave. MISIA returned to the stage in a suit of white and performed her most well known number Everything, drowning the crowd in her angelic voice.

A disco ball lowered from the ceiling and laser lights shot out from the stage. To reflect the "DISCOTHEQUE" theme of the tour, a series of remixed versions of old and new tracks were performed, including Yakusoku no Tsubasa, THE GLORY DAY, Wasurenai Hibi, and Chandelier. As the disco lights fade, the concert officially came to an end. The band and dancers left the stage, but MISIA lingered. After repeatedly thanking the audience, she giggled and said "I want to sing more" and debated with herself for a moment before asking the band to come back for one more song, displaying her simple love for singing and performing.

MISIA reprised Catch the Rainbow, and ran around the stage thanking the entire convention hall before finally stepping off the stage. MISIA will stay in Taipei for one more day to make photoshoots for her upcoming photobook before continuing her tour, which will reach Singapore on September 13th, Seoul on September 28th, Hong Kong on October 4th, and concluding in Shanghai on October 25th. The tour also features DJ Deckstream, who is known for producing and remixing a number of m-flo's music.

It was my first time watching a Japanese concert live, and I must say, the level of professionalism makes it worth every penny... even though I got to see the show for free. But damn, how many people can sing like she does?

1 - Hi no Ataru Basho - The ultimate chill-out song. Old-skool RnB. IMHO much better than Automatic by Hikaru Utada

Though I am also a big Utada fan, I never liked Automatic, anyway Stick out tongue

Ganun talaga. Maraming fans dito, but not enough purchasing power Big Smile The fanbase in our country is also quite small when compared to other Asian countries like Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan --- even Thailand. Kaya nga feeling ko, ang way na lang na mapanood ko si MISIA ay sa DVD, sa Youtube....o pag sa Japan na kami nakatira, hehe. Jowk.

MISIA on Seoul leg of her Asian tour

As part of her first Asian concert tour, popular Japanese singer MISIA performs in Seoul, Korea on the 28th to a sold-out crowd of 4,000 fans. The crowd is mostly composed of young female Korean fans and couples. After greeting the crowd in Korean, MISIA performed her most popular songs, including the well-loved 'EVERYTHING'.

A young housewife, who came with her child, said "I own her albums but I really wanted to see her. The 'Dokdo' issue is one thing, MISIA is another"

Japan and South Korea currently at odds over a Korea-controlled islet (Takeshima in Japanese, Dokdo in Korean) in the Sea of Japan, as both sides are claiming ownership of the said islet. Re: MISIA

tagal ko na hinahanap tong artist na ito. kasi two or three months ago, may napanood ako sa japanese channel na concert nya. the title of the concert was MISIA Africa Benefit Live Yokohama. nung napanood ko, mga 4 songs na lang pinerform nya and they were all excellent. it was my first time to see a japanese singer with a very powerful voice and with a genuine character. ang stereotype ko kasi ng japanese singers especially the females ay yung utada hikaru style na medyo artificial na ang packaging which i don't like. with misia, what you see is what you get. kung ano nakikita mo sa stage, ganun talaga ang ugali nya.

may song pa nga dun sa concert na nakipag-collaborate sya with rappers. plus, she looks very distint. she reminded me of erica badu with the big head dress. i hope everyone knows about her dahil magaling talaga sya.

i still have to download her albums so may mga recommendations po ba kayo?

I think kakaunti lang talaga ang may ganitong quality sa Japan. MISIA is one of them. Others are Onitsuka Chihiro and AI.

I think the Eryka Badu was only one of the looks MISIA was going for. Pero may iba iba din syang looks, depende sa concert e. Pero Erykah Badu is one talented singer (incidentally, she did covers of some of MISIA's songs!).

Favorite ko ang Everything (walang kamatayan) at Wasurenai Hibi, among others. ^__^

haha, mali pa isfelling ko ng eryka badu. hehe. i think MISIA is into african culture siguro talaga kasi yung concert pati nya was for the benefit of African people (as far as i know). galing naman nya, recognized na din pala sya ng ibang artists from other countries.

she has other looks pa pala. i didn't know that. kasi ung concert na napanood ko, naka-head dress nga sya. and then yung website na napuntahan ko, medyo ganung look din.

thanks sa mga recommendation. i tried to download yung isang album nya kaso may problema ata ang computer namin, tagal mag-download. :D

Sana marecognize din sya ng fans dito no? Kasi parang karamihan ng music fans dito, ang gusto ay yung mas mainstream -- in other words, the same old voices, the same old looks, the same old styles. Seriously, most of these female J-pop singers are overrated. They should listen to more MISIA.
