DBSG to Hold Concert in Taiwan; Fans Line Up for 10 Days

    Source: YAM and asianfanatics.net
    Translations by Scarlett

Dong Bang Shin Gi Open-Tickets; Fans Line Up for 10 days

Korea's top idol boy band "Dong Bang Shin Gi" (TVXQ) will hold a concert in Taiwan on October 5 and 6 of this year. Fans line up early in the morning to get the tickets. According to results from yesterday's sale, over 6000 tickets were gone within three hours. Because Japanese boy band NewS is also having a concert on October 6 in the Taipei Arena, TVXQ refuses to admit defeat and is planning to invite their fellow SM juniors, SUPER JUNIOR, to be their concert guests.

TVXQ's world tour concert will take place in Taiwan at the Chungshan Soccer Stadium in Taipei. Fans were already lining up to get the tickets 10 days prior to the official release. However, because the Chungshan Soccer Stadium had just finished holding a major soccer event, fans were forbidden to line up outside the stadium. Fans had no choice but to disperse and to line up all over again. There were also fights within fans for cutting in lines, but all the conflicts were resolved peacefully.

Yesterday was the first sale and there was already a long line of fans. There was also a pregnant woman of five months lining up along the rest. Some fans even flew to Tokyo, Japan three days ago to meet TVXQ at a signing event and then quickly flew back to Taiwan and lined up to buy the tickets.

Because on October 6, 7 Japanese boy band NewS will also be holding their concert in Taipei simultaneously with TVXQ, fans of both parties will definitely be tight with each other. Because both boy bands have contracts with Avex, thus in the same family, fans do not want to be too harsh with each other. Fans of both groups have even decided that they will watch TVXQ's concert first, and then watch NewS the night after.

Hallyu Expo, Dong Bang Shin Ki

    Broasia

The 'FACE in Japan Premium Event' was held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on the 14th as part of the Hallyu Expo. The event featured Lee Dong Geon, Uhm Tae Woon, Ha Ji Won, Cho Hyun Jae, and other actors along with performances by Kang Ta, Dong Bang Shin Ki, Big Mama, and others.

The most popular star of the event was Dong Bang Shin Ki. When the screen featured 'Tohoshinki' for the last performance, the quiet audience all stood up and cheered. Red glow sticks representing the group rose from the crowd as well.

After the performance, Dong Bang Shin Ki commented, "We held a performance in Budokan in June, and this is our first after ranking first on the Oricon charts on the 1st. We though they would all be fans of the other popular actors and actresses but were surprised they were our fans."

The crowd's response reflected the rising popularity and growth of Dong Ban Shin Ki in Japan. Their recent single 'Summer' ranked first on the Oricon Daily Chart and second on the weekly chart.

Their success can be contributed to the localization through Avex. The members used their fluent Japanese on stage and sang 'Summer Dream,' 'O-Jung.Ban.Hab' and other songs in Japanese, contrasting to other stars.

A personnel who participated in the Hallyu Expo event commented, "I was surprised and happy to see Dong Bang Shin Ki's poster on a department store building in the center of Shibuya. It is a moving experience to see photos of Korean stars in central areas of Tokyo."

[TVXQ]'s JaeJoong beats Jerry Yan in Becoming the World's Most Gorgeous Male

Korean top idol group [TVXQ]'s member Hero JaeJoong was highly voted as the 'Most Gorgeous Male On Earth' by China's net-pal with his smooth skin and gorgeous looks, beating Jerry Yan from [Meteor Garden]. Another member of the group, U-Know YunHo came in third for the votings. It's no wonder [TVXQ] is being called the most goodlooking male group.

"The Most Gorgeous Male" voting campaign was being held in order to commemorate the lauching of [Meteor Garden 2] in China. The voting campaign started off on the 9th of July and lasted for a month. Earlier, the broadcasting station [Star World] in China had selected 80 gorgeous male artists recognised by the whole world to participate in the voting campaign, and JaeJoong had won 4180 thousand votes from the people in China as being the most gorgeous looking male.

There are some net-pal saying that, JaeJoong is the prettiest male on earth. There's also net-pal from Vietnam saying that JaeJoong is also recognised as the no.1 most gorgeous mal in Vietnam. As for the Thai fans,"I've also voted my sacred vote for JaeJoong, Young Woong JaeJoong who is a male prettier than a female HWAITING!" (*NOTE:The fan didn't actually said hwaiting but I have no idea how I should translate that 'hwaiting' phrase in English -.-" *)

TVXQ will be holding a conert in Taipei's ZhongSan Soccer Stadium on the 5th and 6th of October. The boys will also be arriving in Taiwan tomorrow to help promote their ticket. On the 23rd, they will be having a press conference in YuanDong Hotel. They are estimated to be having a "stamping" meeting (?) (*NOTE:no idea how I should translate it,but I think it's when the boys stamp their signature rather then signing them*)
around 6pm at Taipei's International Convention Center's Conference Hall, there are sure to be interesting performances by the boys then.

DBSK Places Third on Japan's Oricon Monthly Rankings

The band Tohoshinki has risen to third place on Japan's Oricon Singles Monthly Rankings. In Oricon's public announcement on August 27th, sales volume of Tohoshinki's 12th Japanese single "SUMMER" accumulated to 120,507 copies that landed them on third place. This is another significant record, following their August 7th's record position of second place on Oricon Weekly Rankings.

Sales of the month in first place is the Johnny Junior project unit Hey!Say!7's "Hey!Say!" which sold 161,761 copies. In second place is Ai Otsuka's single with sales of 128,322 copies. Following Tohoshinki's third place is AquaTime (83,353 copies), Tackey & Tsubasa (70,959 copies) in fourth and fifth place. Rip Slyme (62,958 copies), Orange Range (57,000 copies), RSP (55,317 copies), Flowser (54,274 copies), Morning Musume (50,337 copies) ranked # 6 thru 10 place.

In the first week of August, only lagging very little behind Hey!Say!7, Tohoshinki placed number two on Oricon Weekly rankings. However, their breakthrough of 100,000 in sales in its initial release week is an accomplished achievement that was highly regarded. Afterwards, they slid down the chart, dropping out of the top 50 rankings, but came back on an upward swing on the fifth week, rising to # 34 place.

DBSK is loved by Japanese ajummas

There is no age barrier when it comes to Japanese ajummas. A recent survey by Oricon News revealed that DBSK’s die hard fans in Japan are not teenagers, but ajummas in their forties. The percentage of ajummas who heard DBSK’s single and intend to purchase the album exceed any other age group.

DBSK members were probably shivering as they read the news - and who wouldn’t at the thought of serving as boy-toys for lonely ajummas who are old enough to be their moms! But in grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter who their fans are as long as their are raking in the yens.

Korean Boy Band TVXQ Popular Throughout Asia

    http://www.asianbite.com/default.asp?Display=1195

Backed by legions of teenage girls and middle-aged Japanese women old enough to be their mothers, South Korean boy band TVXQ is looking to conquer Asia.

The five-member boy band whose bubble gum pop tunes and glitzy dance steps are reminiscent of Backstreet Boys are among the top music sellers in South Korea, and they have also posted strong sales of 13 singles in Japan.

"We definitely want to perform in bigger parts of the world, in Europe and Northeast Asia, eventually. But now, we want to be on top of Asia," said the band's frontman who goes by the name of U-know Yunho before a sold-out concert in Seoul at the weekend.

South Korean boy bands have a history of burning hot and bright at home and finding fans across due to the inroads made by Korean pop stars such as the artist known as Rain.

However, unlike other parts of the world where boy bands die out as their popularity wanes and the members become older, South Korean boy bands often fall apart when their members are called in for the country's mandatory military service.

TVXQ, which is an abbreviation for what can be translated in Korean as "the gods will rise from the East", was formed three years ago. It has set a frantic pace for itself to make the most of its time in the spotlight.

Its members are between the ages of 19 and 21, and will likely start being called in for military service in the next year or two.

It took four hours for the boy band to sell out 33,000 seats for a series of concerts in Seoul, its management company SM Entertainment said.

The boy band is in the middle of its second Asian tour, playing Taipei this month. They will perform in Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai in the coming months.

TVXQ has done well in Asia's biggest music market of Japan. It latest single "Summer" has climbed to the top slots of the Japanese charts.

TVXQ also has a following among Japanese 40-something housewives, who are fascinated by the boy band's fresh and boyish image. Many flew to South Korea for the concerts at the weekend.

"They are so cute and charismatic," said Hiromi Iino, a 40 year-old Japanese woman from Fukuoka.
