^____________^

may tanong po ako, mag-aapply po ako for an exchange student program (sana makaabot ako sa deadline of submission of requirements *andami pa kasing inaasikasong iba @_@*). How should i write my essay, ung medyo mayabang na full of confidence o yung paka humble-humble. kasi diba when applying for work, dapat ibenta mo sarili mo saka dapat super oober confident ka? same din ba dito?

Hello, spitz-san! Wow, ibang level na ito. :) Btw, exchange program to Japan ba?
I think it is always safe to err on the side of the pa-humble-humble effect. Yung sa full of confidence, medyo pansin ko, hindi malakas ang effect niyan sa Japanese, kasi by nature, pa-humble din sila, up to the extent of calling themselves 'stupid' or 'weak'.
Magpahumble ka, pero make sure that you highlight your interest in the country, culture and the program. Specify how you think the program will be of help to you (pati dun sa ka-exchange mo). Be enthusiastic about it, but not to the extent that it sounds 'plastic' already. Hehe.

cat-san, thanks for the advice XDDDDD Siyempre po Japan!

and if i may just add...

try your best to touch the heart or sentiment of the reader. 'wag mo naman paiyakin. based on your experiences related to japan or japanese, explore the situation further with a sentiment to make the reader feel that you have indeed imbibed everything about the country and its culture. i suggest you put your thoughts in writing kahit na pa isa-isa lang. kahit na anong maisip mo, kahit nasa canteen or jeep ikot :) ka pa. and then once you have gathered your thoughts and ideas, try to think of one particular subject/concept of what you want to discuss and then refer to your jots or probably, you can do the reverse... subject or concept first and then jot down even the tiniest input. diskartehan mo na lang. but remember your thoughts must come from your "soul."

i taught this to my son. lucky enough he was able to get in but in a different endeavor. anyway, i wish u the best of luck. :)
