Born in Kanagawa in December 18, 1976, Koyuki is an actress and model. Her full name is Katou Koyuki.


Her modeling career began in 1995 when she won in a modeling competition for Non-No Magazine, and became a professional model two years after. In 1998, she began to appear as support cast in different TV series, as well as commercials. Then in 2003, she was cast in her first lead role in the dorama adaptation of the manga Kimi wa Petto (http://www.japinoy.com/forums/thread/1118.aspx), opposite Matsumoto Jun (http://www.japinoy.com/forums/thread/657.aspx). Also in the same year, she played Taka in the Hollywood movie, The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise and Watanabe Ken (http://www.japinoy.com/forums/thread/4883.aspx).

<FONT color=#db7093>Actress KOYUKI (30) has been doing quite a bit of commercials for Panasonic but for an actress who was so much in demand even before her co-starring role with Tom Cruise in “The Last Samurai”, the actress really hasn’t done all that much in terms of film and television.

Media has speculated that it was because she was moving on to new management towards Avex, the big recording label who now manages quite a bit of talent and even music artists that are not on their label.

In a recent news article, KOYUKI has signed an exclusive contract with Avex which goes into effect on July 16th and will be filming a feature film in Asia but help propel the actress into worldwide stardom.

The two actresses attended the press launching of the new commercial yesterday. Ayase, who met Koyuki for the very first time during the CM shoot, said that she was nervous at first, but Koyuki was very nice to her and she ended up enjoying herself immensely.

The Hong Kong-produced film is being directed by Chris Nahon, and stars Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun ("My Sassy Girl," "Windstruck") as the protagonist Saya, though she will be credited under the name Gianna Jun.

<SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Trebuchet MS">Koyuki plays a vampire, but her character was not in the original animated "Blood: The Last Vampire." One highlight of the movie is a battle scene between Koyuki and Jun.

Director Yoichi Sai's adaptation of the Sanpei Shirato manga "The Legend of Kamui" has found a new heroine. Late last year, Rinko Kikuchi was dropped from the cast after she suffered a serious injury during filming. Her character, a female ninja who clashes with the protagonist (played by Kenichi Matsuyama), is now being handled by Koyuki.



The action-packed film is said to be aiming for international release,
especially in North America. In addition to Matsuyama, who has become
popular around the world thanks to "Death Note,"
Koyuki was originally offered the part as a respected actress with some
international exposure. She appeared in the 2003 film "The Last
Samurai" with Tom Cruise, and she has also been cast in the upcoming
"Blood: The Last Vampire" movie with Korean star Jun Ji-hyun. However,
due to her schedule, Koyuki was unable to take on the role.


Filming started in November with Kikuchi, but after her
injury, the project was delayed. At one point, there was even talk of
the film being completely stopped. But Koyuki was offered the part
again, and she agreed to come on board with some adjustments to the
schedule. Koyuki begins filming her scenes this month, which include a
sword fight and a horse riding scene.

Ang isa namang masaklap...yung kaso ni Fujiwara Norika. Fluent na sya mag-English, kinarir nya kasi (with matching homestay in New York) para lang makuha as Bond girl...ayon, hanggang ngayon wala pa rin kumukuha!! Pero she is also working as a UN ambassador (I think) so hindi rin naman nasayang.

Actress Koyuki (33) attended a press conference on the 3rd to promote the all new Panasonic Nanoe air purifier. Appearing on stage with her was her sister's dog, Roku-chan. Koyuki's sister is singer Yayoi (35). Originally Koyuki had planned to bring her own dog, Soi-chan with her to the press conference, but because her dog has been suffering from the excessive summer heat, Koyuki decided to bring her sister's dog as a replacement. Koyuki explained that she has looked after Roku-chan since she was a puppy, so she felt Roku-chan would make a good substitute.

Koyuki promoted the benefits of using the Nanoe air purifier. She explained how "the product is suitable for both pets and people. I hope everyone will give it a try." Currently in a relationship with actor Matsuyama Kenichi (25), Koyuki was asked whether she takes her dog out for walks with Matsuken? Koyuki only answered, "Thank you". When she was further asked if their relationship was progressing well, Koyuki did not reply.
