Hello, I just joined last week and I was just wondering if someone out there could help us trace the father of my son... Actually I sent a message to I think Wigent? We don't really know where to start so I opened up this website hoping that there may be someone with a good heart who can help us andtell us what to do..
I just read your post that's what gave me an urge to send a note about our problem.. Maybe you can be of help... my son is 19 y/o and wanted to continue his studies but right now, I don't have a job so I cannot support him. He graduated from high school 2 years ago and took up some vocational courses... But what he really want is to be a pilot which is too costly of a course and I can't afford it.. So that gave me an idea to seek help and support from his Japanese father who abandoned us since he was 1 1/2 y/o....
Please help... many thanks to you...

Hi Malou-san! Glad you can join us.
Yup. You sent this to me before and thanks for putting it here in the public thread.
I can suggest two ways to find your son's father.
1) There is an NGO in the Philippines that does this kind of thing. The name of the organization is Japino (yup, without the -y). I think the office is in Taft Ave. One of the members know about the address of the office. I hope he/she reads this post.
2) You can trace his whereabout through his domicile. Do you have a copy of his koseki-tohon? Do you know where he was born? That's the first step. Then afterwards, you can contact the city hall of his original domicile. What's not easy is that he transferred his domicile not just once but twice or more. Say, his hometown is in Nagoya, then he transferred to Nara then to Osaka. Japanese do this because of various reasons but mostly it's because of their job. The thing is you have to contact every city hall that he transferred to. I believe they have a record where he has transferred. If you finally have spotted him, then you can ask for his address from the city hall, even his contact number. The next step is up to you.
This step is probably what Japino is doing although I'm not 100% about this. You can try either of my suggestion.
In any case, the koseki-tohon is important. Let me know whether you have it or not.
These are just my ideas and I hope someone else has some more.
I hope Japinoy.com can help you and we (administrators and moderators) will be more than glad that your son has achieved his dream.
Good luck!

hello, malot18-san! am sorry to hear abt your situation but let's see the best we can do to your situation.
1. do u have a copy of the kosiketohon of the father?what abt other dox that can trace his place of birth or domicile?
2. do u have friends who can help or have the knowledge of where the father could be?
3. i'm assuming (pls correct me), u did not marry the father. what is written on the spaces of info abt the father on your son's birth cert? did the father acknowledge the illigitemacy? do u have pictures of the two together?
let me tell u a brief story on how i was able to trace the whereabouts ofan oldjapanese friend whoi last saw sometime in 1989.i asked a japanese colleague to call up the city hall where he used to reside, givingthe city hall staff the complete name anda rough estimate of his age. the city hall emailed us the complete info of his address and phone # and from there we were able to get in touch with him again. it's just so sad to know that, maybe, bec of his age, he couldn't come to manila again. i'm telling this to show u that it's possible to tracethe fatheras long as u know personal details abt him. i'm not giving u false hopes but it can happen. for all u know, the father might also be looking foryour son too.
abt japino, anNGOw/c supports children who were abandoned by their japanese fathers, i mayberight or wrong...japino, i think, is now DAWN w/c has the same objective that of japino's. pls try to locate the ofc at santiago bldg. taft ave., manila. this is infront of the pgh beside KFC, corner taft and padre faura.one more, there's an org w/c supports the same objective too. the ofc is located at the legaspi towers 300, corner vito cruz and roxas blvd.from what i know, this supports abandoned children for a possible work in japan. i incidentally readabt this sometime last year in a classified ads at manila bulletin. btw, once u go to these offices, pls bring all ur dox pertaining to the father and son.
don't losehope.u just have to move on and act now. encourageyour son to try all possible avenues. at least, u are trying ur best to do whatever there is yet to come. good luck.
should u feel u need more assistance, pls feel free to post. thanx.

ur pictures can be a big factor to locate ur father but u must have all ur dox in proper order. what abt ur documents? is there anything written on ur birth cert on the space provided for ur father's info? just an fyi: japan immig doesn't recognize illegitimate children of the japanese. but if ur parents are married there are spaces on the marriage cert that can provide the info of the address of ur father. that could be the last known address.
