Considered by many as a boon to the J-dorama and movieindustry, fansub groups are now some of the most sought-after people online. :D And rightly so.Groups such as SARSand JTVprovide us drama/film fans withtitles/series with English (or other language) subtitles for us to fully understand and enjoy dramas/movies. :Y Still, fansubbing quality varies from one group to another. Some people have become loyal fans ofcertain groups and will only download stuff from their favorites.

Please share your comments, your favoritesand recommendations. :)

Here are some fansub groups I know:
<UL>
SARS - Highly recommended!! They may be a bit slow in translating and subbing, but the wait is all worth it! Very, very good translations. They won't even force translating expressions like 'Itadakimasu' or 'Otsukaresama'. I think really proficient people are behind this group. I mean, Nihongo proficient. :Y:Y:Y
JTV - One of the great ones as well.:Y:Y:Y
Transtar - You'll know it's Transtar if you see the number 8 at the top right of your screen. They are generally good, but they have this annoying tendency to screw up the names. For example, in Seikei Bijin, "Isaki" is written/subtitled as "Ichitan". Ang layo, duh. Also, in Beauty or Beast, "Takamiya" was mistranslated as "Tamiya". Pansin ko rin, hindi lahat ng sentences, tina-translate nila. Sometimes when I'm watching Transtar-translated stuff, I would feel really grateful because I can understand Japanese. Hehe. [/list]

Isip pa ako nung iba. :)

Whoever subbed Iryu and Nodame, hats off to them! These two series involve very technical language and knowledge of ordinary Nihongo is not enough to translate the entire series.

chinese fansub groups are the best. grabe sila, parang isang araw lang ata andyan na (in coffee prince's case anyway). sayang nga lang di ako marunong mag-chinese.

Massuki & Sailor Spork Productions - the one that did 1 pound gospel, mabilis. weekly talaga.

gusto ko rin ang BNS (bakanosekai) although parang tv shows yung focus nila.

di ko na matandaan yung iba. ay, i like love song and sars, they did honey & clover di ba? alam ko marami pa akong napanood from both groups pero di ko na matandaan ngayon :P

yung Love Song at SARS, madalas akong makanuod ng J-drama na sila ang nag-sub. la lang. pero mas madalas yung sa Love Song. okay naman. hehe ^___^ agree ako dun sa sinabi ni Cat-san, yung sa Nodame... the best! ^___^
and yeah, yung sa mga Chinese! tama, tama! agree ako dun! ^___^

Mabilis ang Chinese subbers, pero yung mga nakukuha ko from them, barok ang translation. Lalo na yung sa Death Note, hehehe. Tsaka yung ibang Jdramas ko na Chinese groups ang nag-sub, medyo naiiba yung names. Di ko maintindihan bakit ganun, because names are names so they ought to be the same in both the spoken form and the subs.

Hehe.
Dati balak ko mag-apply sa SARS as translator...kaso di ba kailangan ng time at dedication...at pareho akong wala kaya ayun. ^_^

Little Mei! Ang kyut kyut! Tapos yung mga pangalan nagiging Xei Duo, parang ganun. Hehe.

I guess its also thanks to the fansubber SARS that I'm able to absorb the essence of the drama scenes in Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake (again...gomen nasai...), pero since wala talaga akong magets sa Nihonggo, I'm not sure if their work on that drama is outstanding. At least for me, it's great. n_n

i'm no longer that particular with fansubbers as long as there are someone who'd sub a series that i want to watch...

if there are 2 fansubbers in one drama, i'd usually pick the fastest.

i guess the one who created the name in the drama fansubbers realm is SARS...

i also like TimelesSubs and Stormy Subs

Iba rin kasi talaga ang SARS, sa quality pa lang. Tsaka magaganda yung series nila, not limited to idol doramas.
