i used to really like watching stuff on animax. daming bago, plus meron pa silang videos na pinapakita, like yui, arashi, gospellers...
pero parang di ko na masyadong ma-enjoy mula nung nag-dub na sila in english. cringe fest. basta. [:S]
anyway, i do watch some animax shows every now and then and i like fullmetal alchemist and captain tsubasa.
In fairness, I really liked their dub of Full Metal Alchemist.
And yay! They're showing Hachikuro and ParaKiss~

i guess their FMA dub is ok. kakatuwa nga yung kay alphonse, kasi parang galing pa rin sa loob ng armor, ang cute. di lang ako masanay na english ang naririnig ko.[:S]
i would love to see jigoku shoujo but it's on really late. [:(]

Sony Pictures Television International announced that its Animax channel will launch on Unity Media's digital subscription television service in the German regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse in early June 2007. SPTI is planning to roll out the channel, the first anime channel in Germany, with other services in the country. The channel will run 24 hours a day, as it does in many countries in Asia, Latin America, and Central Europe. Sony previously indicated plans to expand the channel into France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and eventually, the United States.

Animax to Hold Anime Song "Grand Prix" in July
Animax, one of Japan's largest cable networks for anime, has teamed up with Japanese cable company Jupiter Telecom to create an "All Japan Anime Song Grand Prix" singing competition.
The contest is open to both individuals and groups. Contestants must submit two photos and a CD-R with their performance of an anime song to Animax by June 15 to be eligible. This July, four preliminary rounds will take place in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo respectively. Contestants will be judged by their ability in the categories of singing, performance, dance, costume, stage character, and more.
The winners of each regional competition will proceed to the final round, where their performances will be reviewed by a panel of celebrity judges, record company representatives and music producers. Celebrity judges include famous anime song performers Ichiro Mizuki, Mitsuko Horie, and Yumi Matsuzawa.
The winner of the competition will perform the main theme for a major anime production next year and begin work on their professional debut. No details have been announced regarding which anime the song will be used for, or where the anime will be broadcast.

cable channel in Japan and Southeast Asia, has announced the titles of
the winning entries in the Pan Asia Animation Competition of this
year's Animax Awards. This contest has
been held in Japan since 2002, but this is the first year that it has
been open to contestants from other countries. Competitors were invited
to submit a script, novel excerpt, or comic suitable for adaptation
into a 30- to 40-minute anime episode, based on either an original
character or one of the characters Animax
created for the contest. Over three thousand entries were received from
seven different regions, and six of the twelve finalists represent
various countries throughout Northeast, Southeast and South Asia.
Each of the regional finalists will receive a prize of US$2000.
An all-star panel of anime and manga industry professionals, including
A-1 Pictures president Hideo Katsumata, Kadokawa Shoten producer Takashi Watanabe, Animax Broadcast Japan president Masao Takiyama, and manga artist Hirohiko Araki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)
will then select the grand prize winner. The creator of the winning
entry will be awarded a cash prize of two million yen (about
US$18,000). The winning entry itself will be animated by A-1 Pictures
and broadcast on Animax sometime next year.
The stories that won the non-Japanese regional competitions are:
Hong Kong: "Serial Burglary"
India: "Legend of the Scarlet Samurai"
Philippines: "Laminated Woman"
South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand): "Guardian: Invader" (Malaysia)
South Korea: "Nuri the Secret Helper"
Taiwan: "The Final Dream Match"
They join the six Japanese finalists ("Hound Tooth," "The Mystical
Era," "Seizure of the Encyclopedia," "Jiku-uro, the Time Cutter,"
"Takane's Bike," "A Message from Myself"). Brief descriptions of the
twelve winning stories can be seen on the Animax Awards site (http://animaxawards.spti.com/sg/poll.asp).
Visitors from around the world are invited to select their favorite in
an online poll. The results of the poll will not affect the final
voting, but fifty voters will have a chance to receive a prize pack
containing various Animax promotional materials.

Here is the synopsis of Laminated Woman
Synopsis:
The
inhabitants of a harsh desert planet have perfected a system of
imprisonment without walls. Called “Lamination”, this system of virtual
slavery ensures that those convicted of serious crimes remain
productive, if not free members of society. The system has made both
jails and the death penalty unnecessary in a world where human
ingenuity, creativity and labour continue to be precious commodities
that cannot be replaced by robots or any form of artificial
intelligence.
Dr. John “Jack” Griswold sees his employment in
Cerra merely as a means of earning his keep while keeping his mind away
from a personal tragedy. Jack has no desire whatsoever to get involved
in the planet´s curious politics of “Lamb” liberation. But a meeting
with a laminated person, or “Lamb”, threatens to peel off the seemingly
cold exterior of this man hired to turn a red planet green.

pero pinanonood ko talaga ang nodame cantabile, pos nagbuy na lang ako ng dvd after,^_^

izelle888
03-08-2010, 10:49 AM

I understand yung need ng mga "purists" to see subbed anime with Japanese audio..ako din naman mas gusto ko yung..ibang-iba yung delivery ng lines at yung expressions. Kaso, in fairness to Animax mas malaki yung audience nilang mas gusto yung dubbed anime kse its easier to understand nga naman...isa pa convenient kse di kailangan nasa TV yung full attention nila.
Plus in case of anime enthusiast mommies like me na may kids na mahilig din sa anime its good for the kids din kse mas nakaka-relate sila.
