I've decided to make this thread so that we could discuss some of our favorite Japanese songs and why we'd like them.

Here's the deal.

If you were given a single CD (around 79 minutes of running time including the gaps of silence) and compile all of the songs you'd like, what songs would you put in? The songs should be JPop and nothing else. Personal choice matter in what you post and albums are not allowed.

You can also post links of you compilations here and let everyone hear it! You can also name what you have compiled and present a theme in it!

I will start the game.

V.A. - Asa no Uta
(A collection of my favorite songs that exude the essence of the morning.)

1 - Roma Tanaka - Keep On

This song was lifted from the album in the same name, and the light piano rhythm profuses a walkabout beat. I imagine even walking around Makati with this song in my ears!

2 - Superfly - Ai to Kansha

The strong drumbeat, the powerful ereki in the middle and Ochi Miho's powerful voice keeps you alive and well in this song.

3 - Ikimono Gakari - GOOD MORNING

Although I don't know much the band (they're fairly new) their vocalist has a high vocal register and this song keeps up with xylophones in the mid.

4 - OCEANLANE - Everlasting Scene

Finally, some good english in the Japanese market. I got this song from their debut album "On My Way Back Home."

5 - Rie Fu - decay

Another song from another well-trained singer in English, this song evokes seamless mixing of English and Japanese with flawlessness. Guitars are slick and made slicker after the first chorus.

6 - Aobouzu - Esto

The drumbeats are fast, and this song could probably be your personal anthem to haste.

7 - Takako Matsu - Mafuyu no Memories

Guitar-driven beats that profuse with energy, despite the wintry title.

8 - Masayoshi Yamazaki - Gatsu Akari ni Terasete

If Japanese Pop and the harmonica would combine forces, this song would probably be the apotheosis of that fusion. Yamazaki perfectly mingles "country-like" beats in this song with Japanese.

9 - Drug Store Cowboy - Asa

The sad thing was that the band disbanded a long time ago. The good thing was that they left a handful of songs, which are mostly loud, for Jrockers everywhere. This is an exception.

10 - BONNIE PINK - A Perfect Sky (Bjorn Remix)

Remixed by Bjorn from Peter Bjorn and John, the songs presents a faux-'70s and technopop beat that simulates a children's beat.

11 - SID - Yuuwaku COLLECTION

Visual Kei had never this mellow, and the guitar is pretty slick, until it reaches 1:02.

12 - GACKT - Kimi no Tame Ni Dekiru Koto (The Seventh Night Version)

This mellow version of the song blends well with GACKT's emotional singing and the guitar.

13 - Kaela Kimura - Yellow

Punctured dreambeats echo through the song, swiftly drifting like a chase in a road. Which is almost the same as it's PV.

14 - Metis - Donna Toki Mo

Probably one of the faces of new Japanese reggae, I prefer Metis over Leeca due to her powerful singing.

15 - HY - monokuro (MONOCHROME)

HY's first releases were mixes of rap, metal and hard rock. Their subsequent releases were mellow, happy and light, like this next song.

16 - Micro - Kibuntenkan ~Itsumo Kokoro ni Taiyou wo~

Micro is part of the rap group HOME MADE Kazoku and I prefer this solo release as promising.

17 - Kiroro - Wonderful Days

Probably of all the bands I liked, Kiroro never wanes in my list. Since their hiatus over the years, their music still keeps itself fresh and mellow. Wonderful Days starts with a whimsical "session talk."

18 - Kobukuro - Million Films

My favorite Kobukuro song! I placed this in the last because of the light piano melodies.
